In terms of the internet, I think it is a great tool for communication. You can catch up with old friends through Myspace or Facebook, meet new people on line through chatrooms, pay your bills without leaving your house, or find out new information within a split second. However, I think the internet hinders composition and help do people's work for them. Rather than going to the library and investing hard work and time into research, it's just way easier to "google" something and the paraphrase it. What is also discouraging is all the videos and movies I have been exposed to in classes that portray how America is a struggling educational nation is comparison to countries like Japan, China and India. I think that the internet gives us an "easy way out" and allows us to say/do alot, but without a 100 percent effort. I think it's important to look back at all the amazing scholars and inteventors that America has produced and remember that they didn't "google" themselves into history!

I agree the internet is a great tool. It provides so much information at our fingertips. It ahs made research and homework so much easier, and we are able to enrich our minds more. Not to mention communication with our friends is faster, and meeting people we would have never met before is easier which leads us to a more sociable society.
ReplyDeleteI think the internet is an easy way out too. Other than communication and entertainment I think it has taken away from learning experiences.
