I feel like this class has given me alot of insight about things i've never really known before. I really enjoyed our class discussions on cannibalism and I also felt like our discussions and lectures over Rhetoric and the Toulmin model were very clarifying. On a more personal term, I think that some of the isses we have discussed have really interested me and I want explore further...things like Humanism (which is still a little fuzzy).
Professionaly, I feel like I have learned alot of things I could intergrate into my own classroom and teaching style. I felt that most of our discussions are relavent to any type of classroom and I have really enjoyed listening to everyone's different perspectives on topics that never really come to my mind.
This has def. been a valuable learning experience.

I agree this class was interesting and caused me to think about things that otherwise I would never really consider. I also agree that humanism is a bit fuzzy and I would like to understand this concept a bit more!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone is a little fuzzy on humanism. When you glance at it, it seems like an easy concept, but when you start thinking about it in terms of a religion, things get muddled.
ReplyDeleteAlso, just thought I would say that your presentation was great. I have a short attention span sometimes, especially in the morning, and you had my attention. I think you will make a good teach.
This class was interesting. From reading the blogs, everybody loves the cannibalism, and I think that it is great that there was a reason to bring "A modest proposal" into the class because that is my favorite piece of literature!!! I love any class that can make a lesson out of that piece of work.
ReplyDeleteI agree, this class has prepared me in many ways for teaching. I loved all the discussions we had in class and how we were all able to voice our opinions. I also loved the cannibalism and how it shows the importance of language. I think that's a great lesson to teach to high school level students.
